Kundapur: Man falls into unprotected well beside public pathway, dies

Kundapur, Jan 25: A man died after falling into a well behind Karikal Katte bus stand near Salvadi in Kalavara Gram Panchayat limits. Reportedly, the well is unprotected without a fence or compound wall and is located by the side of a pathway accessed by the public.

The unfortunate victim is Raghurama Shetty (53), a resident of Nada Konki. It is said that the incident occurred on the late night of Monday and came to light only on the morning of Tuesday.

The deceased, Shetty was working in a hotel at Bagalkot. He had come to attend his mother's funeral a few days ago. Shetty’s wife is from Karikal Katte and on the fateful day he had visited his in-laws. Reportedly, he had been to a Yakshagana show on the night of Monday. It is suspected that he must have fallen into the well while coming back after watching Yakshagana.

A case is registered in Kundapur rural police station.

    Place looks so serene. Took me back to my childhood days in my grandmother's village. I was also very scared of these small ponds as a kid. Pity the man who was unfamilier of these ponds . RIP
