Mangaluru, Jan 26: Brahmashree Narayana Guru Swabhimana Nadige Samithi kicked off a procession ‘Swabhimana Nadige’ from Garodi temple to Kudroli temple on Wednesday January 26, condemning the exclusion of Brahmashree Narayana Guru tableau in the Republic Day parade.
The procession began from Garodi temple and will go through Pumpwell-Nanthoor-Kulshekar-Baiturli-Neermarga-Vamanjoor-Gurupura-Kaikamba-Sunkadakatte-Bajpe-Kavoor-Kulur-Panamboor-Surathkal-Kulai-Nanthoor-Collectors Gate-Jyothi-Hampankatta-KS Rao Road-PVS-MG Road-Urwa store.
From Urwa store, a foot march will held till Kudroli temple.
District Congress president Harish Kumar said, “The followers of Narayana Guru are deeply hurt by the exclusion of Narayana Guru tableau. This is a humiliation as well. Processions from other parts of the district will join and show their solidarity. This is not a political procession. No political flags will be shown. Supporters are wearing yellow shawl and holding flags.”
The followers were seen wearing yellow shawls and flags. Prior to procession, pooja was offered in Garodi temple.
Former MLC Ivan D’Souza, former MLAs J R Lobo and Mohiuddin Bava, Congress leaders Praveen Chandra Alva, Shashidhar Hegde, Vishwas Das, T K Sudhir, Abdul Rauf, Prathibha Kulai, Naveen D’Souza and others are taking part in the procession.
