Hospet, Feb 3: The central characters of this story are hearing and speech impaired. They became friends at school. Once they entered teenage, their friendship transcended into love. Initially, they could converse with each other or express their feelings only with the help of eyes or hand signs. Later, technology came handy thanks to WhatsApp. Through this social media platform, their bond matured and culminated in their weddings.

Akshata B from Kadabageri village in Harapanahalli taluk married K Sanju Valmiki form Mederi village, Ranebennur taluk.

Both Sanju and Akshata studied in the Mouneshwara Residential School for Speech and Hearing Impaired. This school is located in the DCM township extension, Davanagere. They studied in that school till their 10th standard. However, after 10th standard, they parted ways.

After SSLC, Sanju K Valmiki pursued ITI in Bengaluru and bagged a job in a private company. However, WhatsApp broke the distance between them and they reunited. They could aptly exchange their feelings and dreams through this platform.

Sanju was the first to get the approval of his parents for his marriage after convincing them through signs and writings. He then conveyed their approval to Akshata. Both visited the district registration office at Davanagere and united in a registered marriage. However, all was not well.

Angered by this, Akshata's parents filed a kidnap complaint in Chigateri police station. The police summoned the couple and questioned them to confirm in writing that they were wedded by mutual consent. The two dismissed the kidnap theory and reiterated that their love spanning several years had culminated in marriage. The police then called the complainants and Sanju's parents and counselled them to ensure that the couple do not face problems from them in future.

Sanju's father, a teacher of a private school in Harapanahalli, says that Akshata is a beacon to his family. He says that he and other family members will look after her like their own daughter. The couple is happy now and have stepped into the new phase of their lives with dreams in their eyes and confidence in their hearts.
