Bengaluru, Feb 5: "Some groups are creating fanaticism in the name of hijab. But the government will strongly oppose such developments mainly in school campus. I am not pointing out any political parties or other groups. Government decision is clear on uniform code for schools,” said Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Saturday, February 5.
He was speaking at the press meet held at Bengaluru , “There should be no Hijab and no saffron shawl in classes. Government will not tolerate it. Some students from Udupi came to schools by wearing saffron shawl as a reaction against Hijab. But this is not right."
"I really do not know what happened, which photos are there. Let us listen to them. As of now that is my answer. Government has clarified over wearing of Hijab or saffron shawl. The education institutions should follow the rules drafted by the government. I do not have any confusion over the issue."
"Opposition party leaders should guide the people, but they are misleading the public by giving statements. They will never appreciate the ruling party. They show off to the public by giving statements. They are giving statements keeping in mind the upcoming elections. It is unfortunate. In reality, opposition party leaders are also thinking that it is wrong and unjust.
"They are doing it to gain wide publicity, insulting the nation. There is a conspiracy behind the issue of dividing the nation. I will pressurize the government to take action against those people or organisations, which are creating communal disturbance in the nation.
"I wish that Siddaramaiah does not politicize the issue. Please cooperate with us for maintaining peace in society. Each education institutions should be following the rules.
He was reacting to the question on Cabinet extension and said that Cabinet extension or reshuffling is purely left of chief minister Basavaraju Bommai, BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel and national leaders. "They have the supreme power to make decisions. We will respect party decisions and we will abide by their words. There are no such assumptions in me."
"‘Obavva’, self-defense training class for hostel girls will be inaugurated officially by chief minister Basavaraju Bommai on February 6 in front of Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru and the class will be inaugurated at all district centers on February 7, district in charge ministers or MLA will launch the programme.
"Around 1,82,000 students from 1,704 hostels and residential schools will get the benefit. There are 629 Other Backward Class post matric girls’ hostels and 250 Social welfare department post matric hostels in the state. Around 1,000 teachers will impart the self-defense training. I am very pleased to initiate such a good proogramme," said Kota.
