Karnataka government orders uniform dress code in all schools, colleges

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (DV)

Bengaluru, Feb 5: The state Education department has issued an order that under the limits of the Karnataka Pre-University Education department, the students should wear uniforms stipulated by the college development board or the supervising committee of the college administration.

The state government on Saturday February 5 ordered the mandatory wearing of uniform approved by the state government on school and college campuses. With the Hijab controversy snowballing into a nationwide controversy, the state government referred to judgements of various high courts, instructed that kids at government schools, colleges must wear uniforms approved by the state government and in private institutions, the uniform approved by the management.

As per the Karnataka Education Act 1983, the uniform prescribed by the government should be worn in all schools. The private colleges should wear the uniform prescribed by the college administration. But, the dress should not affect harmony in society.

Students and the public thanked chief minister Basavaraj Bommai and education minister B C Nagesh for the decision.

Good decision..... In my childhood, school not only insisted on colour / pattern, but also insisted every one to have only the same material (cotton)..... Also lunch boxes will be taken by the Ayah from the parents and served in similar plates (porcelain plates as melamine / plastic were not there during those times) during lunch time to all the students..... Schools / Colleges apart from the purpose of gaining knowledge is to gain Social skills co-existing with people with different strata of life.... Here in the name of Hijab seeds of hatred are sown in the young minds so that they came handy leaders / workers / sympathisers for these politicians when they grow up.....

Yes Uniform civil code long awaited. Now a reality, it's really great. There cannot be differential treatment between rich or poor, small or great. All are one in the sight of God.
