Feb 6: Dakshina Kannada reports 163 Covid cases, Udupi adds 175; seven deaths in twin districts

Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 6: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, February 6, reported 163 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 175 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,34,322 out of which 1,969 are currently active.

As many as 366 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,794. Out of which five deaths were reported on Sunday.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,14,99,280 as fine in 94,034 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 175 new cases were reported on Sunday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 1,963. A total of 378 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.

Udupi taluk reported 105 cases, Kundapura 42 and 26 cases in Karkala. 2 cases were reported from outside district.

A total of 10,35,250 people have received first dose of vaccination and 8,90,693 have received both doses and 35,488 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
