Hijab row: Colleges to remain closed till Feb 16, exams as scheduled

Bengaluru, Feb 11: Even as the State Government is making all efforts to ensure that peace as well as law and order situation is maintained with high schools scheduled to reopen from Monday after being given three-day holiday over the trouble and law and order problems over the wearing of hijab and saffron shawls, the Higher Education Department has on Friday that the colleges will remain closed till February 16 even as the examinations will be held as scheduled.

The closure of all Universities belonging to the Department of higher education and colleges under the Department of Collegiate and Technical Education (DCTE) has been extended till February 16.

However, the examinations scheduled will be held as scheduled and it has been directed to conduct online classes, Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister for Higher Education has said on Friday.

Earlier, in view of the Hijab row, DCTE had declared the closure of institutions from February 9 to February 11. Now as a precautionary measure it has been extended till February 16.

This closure is applicable for government, aided, unaided degree colleges, diploma, and engineering colleges, Minister stated.

    What is government upto. Do they think education is foolish . Shutting colleges down is not the great option . There are exams scheduled which are to be postponed now . State government has failed to provide good governance to it's people.

    We are told that wearing of the Hijab for the woman has been mandated in the Qu'ran. We are also told that it guards the woman's modesty and she's not seen by other men, but the question is - Why is it that a man cannot see a woman, but a woman can see a man??? Hence, for modesty (and for all those males protesting against the right for a female to wear a hijab) why don't you males wear a White Burkha for purposes of differentiating between males and female. I think that will be the best way to prove to the world that each and every one of you are practicing what you preach.

    Who said Salman khan is a Muslim? He is a mixed product but mostly follows as per his norms. The best advice is, not to look at the followers to understand or judge the Religion but instead the Religious scripture. That is where one get the right answer.
