Udupi: MLA seeks high level probe into Hijab-saffron friction

Udupi, Feb 16: MLA Raghupati Bhat has written to the state home minister, seeking to hold a high level inquiry into the Hijab-saffron controversy which started here all of a sudden unexpectedly. In a letter written to the minister, Araga Jnanendra, Bhat has pleaded for an inquiry.

He said that organizations powered by Islamic agenda have been spreading communalism and unrest in the society and there is a need to treat these things with utmost seriousness. He has alleged that Islamic organizations had provided training to the 12 Muslim girl students of a PU college here at a secret spot.

He wants an in-depth probe to be conducted into the incident to make sure that truth prevails.

    Any inquiry by NIA or CBI must be carried out on both the parties in quest. Saffron as well as Hijab/veil . Saffron shawls did not fall from the sky. Some right wing party people must have arranged and supported Nationalist brigades (here the students) ! The entire episode is politically motivated and supported by communal fanaticism (India Taliban)

    About 5 years ago hijab appeared suddenly in St. Agnes, Mangalore also but was put down promptly. It's clear now there are some organisations behind it and people know well about them.

    Any organisation can train anyone at any time. By itself, there is nothing illegal about it. Mr Bhat is super-keen to get NIA involved. All because a few girls chose to wear hijab? I don't see a problem in this. Why is Mr Bhat losing sleep over this matter? We all face failures once in a while. Mr Bhat has failed in his kutantra.
