Mangaluru: Three held for abusing, manhandling police personnel at Thokkottu

Mangaluru, Feb 17: Three youths have been taken into custody for abusing and manhandling police personnel and creating a ruckus in a drunken stupor at Olapete in Thokkuttu.

Sharan (24), Pramod (24) and Ajesh (22), all natives of Kasargod, Kerala, were detained on Thursday February 17.

Police sources said that on Thursday afternoon, the accused got drunk and created a scene at a public place near a marriage hall in Olapete. They got into a quarrel. Police constable Sunil of Bajpe police station and a homeguard who were on duty at Olapete tried to intervene and stop the fight.

However, the accused allegedly pushed the policemen and abused them in filthy language.

Thereafter, the three were taken into custody.

Police sources said that a case will be lodged against the accused for creating public nuisance and abusing the police personnel.
