Mangaluru, Mar 5: Atal Tinkering Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the members of ATL Club of Mount Carmel Central School on Saturday, March 5th, 2022. The programme commenced with prayer where the students thanked God for blessing them with the knowledge and insight to make fruitful use of science and technology available to them. A mind blowing welcome dance by the students of Grade IX was a wonderful start to the programme.
Saanvi Preetham welcomed the chief guest Shobith Mallya, principal Sr Melissa, administrator Sr Carissima, vice principal Sr Lidwyn, the staff and the students. Rochelle Madtha gave the audience an understanding to the importance of Atal Tinkering Lab. A PowerPoint presentation on the activities and sessions held during the year was projected systematically.
The chief guest Shobith Mallya, an engineering student and a project designer, the startupreneur of Sahyadri College of Engineering and Technology had an interactive session with the student audience. He made known to the students that the tinkering involved 3 things - Materials and tools, Curiosity and Guidance without which innovation is hard to achieve. He also congratulated the school for winning prizes in the SSTH (Sahyadri Science Talent Hunt) conducted in January 2022. Shobith Mallya and his colleagues also showcased 2 of their projects - Propel Agro LLP and Dream Kit to the students and thereafter kept them in the school’s Atal Tinkering Lab for further viewing where the students’ models were also exhibited. Their curiosity seems to have melted their imagination resulting in their creativity.
Principal Sr Melissa appreciated the efforts put in by the members of ATL Club in organising the event. She reminded the students that the Atal Tinkering Lab is ‘a play area for those who want to play with science’ and encouraged the students to make best use of school’s ATL lab to give expression to their innovative and creative talents and abilities. She also thanked the mentors of ATL for being the force behind the functioning of the Atal Tinkering Lab in the school.
The vote of thanks was rendered by Ronan Trevor Lobo and Srushti U compered the programme with finesse. After the formal programme, the guests and rest of the students viewed the working models prepared by the students, each distinctive, unique and spectacular in itself.
