Puttur: Rs 10,500 Crore Spent for Higher Education – Dr Acharya

Puttur, Jan 13: Speaking after participating in the celebrations of Swami Vivekandanda’s birth anniversary organized by Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha here on Wednesday January 12, state higher education minister, Dr V S Acharya, said that the state is in the forefront in the field of education. “We want to provide opportunities to everyone to get the education they want. During this year, a sum of Rs 10,500 crore has been spent for higher education alone,” he explained.

Acharya said that Karnataka has set up Knowledge Commission with the specific aim of achieving reforms and advances in education. “We will, from time to time, obtain suggestions from the Knowledge Commission on ways to sort out problems in the field,” he said. He also said that the responsibility of maintaining and continuing ‘Institute of Science’ founded by Swami Vivekandanda rests with every citizen.

On this occasion, the minister dedicated the new building of Vivekananda PU College to the people.

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad joint organizing secretary, K N Raghunandan, felt that transformation in the country can be brought through the line of thinking of Swami Vivekananda alone.

Vivekananda Vidyavardhaka Sangha president, S R Rangamurty, presided. Karnataka Public Service Commission members, S Rudre Gowda, and Prof M Nagaraj, college governing council president, A V Narayan, P Srinivas Pai, Dr Shreesha Kumar and Rohitaksha were present.
