Muslim bodies in Karnataka call for bandh opposing hijab verdict on Thursday

Bengaluru, Mar 16 (IANS): Muslim organisations in Karnataka have given a call for a 'bandh' in the state on Thursday (March 17) opposing the verdict of the Karnataka High Court on the hijab row.

The high court had on Tuesday dismissed all the petitions seeking direction to the government for allowing hijab inside classrooms. The court had also stated that wearing hijab is not an essential part of Islam.

The Amir-E-Shariat of Karnataka, Maulana Sagir Ahmad Khan Rashadi, on Wednesday gave a call for a state-wide bandh on Thursday, which has been supported by hundreds of organisations across the southern state.

"Expressing our anger against the sad order of the Karnataka High Court regarding hijab, a state-wide bandh will be observed on Thursday," Rashadi stated, as he appealed to the entire Muslim community to support the bandh between 6 am and 6 pm on Thursday.

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and the Campus Front of India (CFI) have also supported the bandh call. Both the organisations maintained that the high court verdict is against the constitutional rights of an individual.

CFI office-bearers said that the high court verdict is against individual and religious rights.

Mr. T,Dsilva...we are very much practical people and yes our ladies came home late night wearing hijab after doctor duty etc...no incidents so far by the grace of almighty.. Now ,your turn..here I am not pointing out who is doing what but my concern is ,if ladies cover her body as per religion or her wish, is that bad practice? Noble winner Mother Theresa always wearing head cover and screen with full body cover, she looks pretty and respectful..so why you opposing good practice..

@Nelson, Pinto, Udupi Good observation dear.....these people wants to go to western countries(UK,US,CANADA,AUSTRALIA,NZ,EUROPE) for jobs and better life and their ambition does not stop. They want to grab power, because those countries are democracies, these people find an opportunity there. If they go to GCC countries(YEMEN,OMAN,SAUDI ARABIA,UAE,QATAR,KUWAIT,BAHRAIN,ETC) these people have only jobs, but no political opportunities, because those countries are MONOPOLIES (KING RULE). Now you tell me the real motive of this religion??? Is it the real faith on God or the misleading the people in the name of religion to grab power and money??? My personal opinion is that, THIS IS THE BIGGEST POLITICAL PARTY OF THE WORLD WITH ZOMBI MILITARY.

Students should attend Education institutes to study and should follow the uniform mentioned by the school. They simply created an issue out of thin air just for some cheap publicity n for controversy. When the whole of India is working hard to progress, there is this religion always trying to pull it back!! Wear what you want in your home, public. Where there is uniform wear one!

Remember, religion is not known by its scriptures, it's the followers of that religion who represent it give the reality of that religion to the world.

Sister, Muslims usually think differently unlike people of other faith usually do. They have strong belief in their faith and in Almighty God. They seek reward on the life here after on the day of judgement if they are deprived from getting justice in this life.

Even other communities have more strong belief on their faith and God. In your faith killing a person in jihad is also right. But other religion doesn't teach this utter non sense. Your people only filed the petition when they lost the war accept. Don't show your religious aggressiveness on court order.

@Moshu, Mangalore Yes..black sheeps are there in all the communities, but the percentage make differeance. In other communites (10% bad & 90% good people) but its opposite in your community(90% bad & 10% good people). I can give you hundreds of referance of killings in your scripture. Refer: CHAPTER 9 VERSES 5, CHAPTER 9 VERSES 29, CHAPTER 47 VERSES 35, CHAPTER 9 VERSES 14, ETC. Let me know if you want more referance. I think other communities know better about your religion than you. Because they are educated and read the scripture. In your case most of you are uneducated and don't want to read, instead listen to the priest who want to misguide you for their benefit.
