Jinnah mindset won't work now, says BJP's CT Ravi

Bengaluru, March 17 (IANS): Reacting to the bandh call given by Muslim organisations against verdict on wearing of hijab in classrooms, BJP National General Secretary C T Ravi on Thursday, March 17 said that people need to shed the Jinnah mindset.

"They did the same thing after the Supreme Court verdict in the Shah Bano case. Then Congress government under the leadership of Rajiv Gandhi succumbed to their pressure. This is not the time to continue with your agenda," Ravi said.

"Come out of Jinnah mindset and inculcate Indinaness. The Jinnah agenda won't work now," he said.

"If they think that they can threaten courts, courts would not bother, if they think they can threaten the government, it is not possible. This is BJP government which sees the national interest as paramount," he explained.

If the verdict is as per their wishes, they will talk about Constitution and courts. If they get reverse judgment, they talk about their agenda, Ravi said.

"This is not a government which will bog down, it is also not possible to create any fear in the government," he stated.

Muslim organisations have given a bandh call on Thursday against the verdict of the special bench of the Karnataka High Court which banned hijab in classrooms. The police have deployed tight security in the sensitive areas.

The state Govt's sponsering this issue on Hijab and the High Court giving its nod on the Govt's contention is nothing but trampling on a few rights that the Minority Community were enjoying in our country and more to do with the continued Harassment of Minorities by the Govt of Karnataka and its affiliates. No doubt the RSS wants to convert a once progressive state like Karnataka into the UP of South India. As for BJP the only pass time they indulge is Diversionary tactics to avoid real issues facing the common man and further their agenda to Polarise and Divide our once harmonious society.

Pallavi you are mistaken. In a convent school, which is a choice for most parents as it is cheaper than most private schools ( Hindu operated or otherwise), bible teaching is only for catholics. Don't twist the truth! Even protestants in a Catholic school study moral science, just like hindus or Muslims! Even if you don't want moral science, you are free to take your child off catholic school and put in hindu school!

To clear your doubts, catholic students would attend catechism classes, non Catholics would attend Moral Science classes! I don't know which school you studied; I studied throughout in Mumbai in coed schools, but I had seen anything as you have stated brashly!

Only for information for readers- Jinnah was a Gujarati - native place Gondal in Gujarat, born in Karachi but lived in Mumbai - the house is still there near Malabar Hill. Jhina means small and his mother's name was Mithibai ,Mithi means sweet in Gujarati, their mothertongue. He married a Parsi - Rattanbai ( Rutti) who never wore a Hijab and it is said Jinnah never went to a Mosque. He loved Pork and alcohol both "haraam" in Islam. So what does Ravi mean by "Jinnah mindset"...
