Dubai: Peter Lewis, Rheanne Amelda’s unique art exhibition earns praise

Dubai, Apr 11: ‘Walking through our Village’ together with ‘Young Mind’s Thoughts’, a unique three-day art exhibition comprising two generations Peter Lewis, a proven master in the art field and his talented granddaughter Rheanne Amelda Lewis, was inaugurated on April 7 at Fortune Atrium Hotel here.

The programme started with a brief introduction of Peter Lewis and Rheanne Amelda Lewis by compere of the evening Raegan Lewis, none other than grandson of Peter Lewis. Peter Lewis in his speech explained his journey from a small village to reach this height. The government of India job in the Weavers Service Centre helped him travel to many places where he observed the culture, traditions of those places and the same has been reflected on his canvas. He also informed that during his tenure as chairman of Lalitha Kala Academy, Karnataka he influenced the authorities to develop and promote art as a subject in schools. He also called on aspirant artists to dream big and work on it.

Rheanne Amelda Lewis in her speech informed that she had a perfect atmosphere at home to take up the paint brush at a very tender age. Her grandfather was the greatest influence in her life along with her parents.

Chief guest, the founder of Daiji Dubai Writers’ Forum and a multitalented personality of the community, Dayan D’Souza Mukamar, congratulated Peter Lewis and Rheanne Lewis for providing us the beautiful journey of life on canvas. He narrated the childhood incidents which made him grow to this level today. “At the age of 86, his energy is a role model for the present generation. Peter Lewis’ art work speaks of the surroundings in which he was born. Certain fundamental factors have contributed intrinsically to his framework - his sensitivity, his attitude, his values, his inspiration and aspirations,” said Dayan D’Souza.

During the event, a new website www.daddyzart.com was launched by well-known artist of UAE and royal photographer, Ramesh Shukla. Rajan Lewis, elder son of Peter Lewis informed that this website will provide a platform to all the artists to market their products.

Chief guests were honoured with floral bouquets by Annette Lewis.

The programme concluded with live painting demonstration by both Peter lewis and Rheanne Lewis.

About 40 art works of Peter Lewis and Rheanne Lewis are on display at Fortune Atrium Hotel, Dubai.

Young, energetic and a new talent in the family, Raegan Lewis beautifully compered the entire event.

    Lewis is a very old hand in painting. But I feel that due recognition is paid to his art. Nice paintings.
