Contractor suicide case: Minister Eshwarappa announces resignation

Shivamogga, Apr 14 (IANS): Karnataka's Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa, who is embroiled in the suicide case of contractor and BJP leader Santhosh K Patil, on Thursday, April 14 announced his resignation.

"I have worked as the RDPR minister till date under the CM's (Basavraj) Bommai's leadership in the government. I have taken a decision to tender my resignation on Friday evening. I don't want to cause embarrassment to my party and party leadership," he said.

Eshwarappa said that he had decided to tender his resignation earlier, but was stopped by his colleagues. "If I have committed any mistake, let the god punish me. I am confident of coming out clean from the allegations in the contractor suicide case," he said.

Patil, who committed suicide by consuming poison, held Eshwarappa directly responsible for his death, alleging that the minister had asked for a 40 per cent commission in a Rs 4 crore project, through his aides.

The Congress has called for an indefinite strike, demanding resignation and arrest of Eshwarappa.

Whether or not Minister Eshwarappa is involved investigation will reveal. But one thing is true that this minister has no control over his tongue.. He just says things and creates controversy. Flag issue is the example. He needs to answer a lot of questions.. .

Till yesterday you were saying 'no question of resignation'. Today after resigning 'I wanted to resign, but stopped by colleagues'. Now you are free to go with Yeddiruppa on State tour. Kehte hain na ka diya bujhne se pehle bahot phadphadata hai. God showed you your place.

No point in pointing fingers. You don’t have to worry about congress. During congress rule congress has immediately sacked its officials as soon as any wrong doing was detected unlike your ministers who had to be physically kicked out held by the collar.

Had to resign else it would have affected the oncoming elections. If elections were not far away he would have been directed by the high command to stay put and continue his moronic and illiterate rantings. A government that has seized power by horse trading can never continue since the voters had never elected them willfully. Ministers like Eeshwarappa need to be flushed out to keep the beautiful state of Karnataka as it was earlier during much better times. People can live peacefully again if these kind of ministers are kicked out of the system before they completely destroy the harmony of the state.

Innocent people have to commit suicide, get destroyed and die for these corrupt official to take ownership of their sins and step down. Plain and simple charges with evidence is not sufficient for them to take the right step. Lathon Ke Booth Bathon Se Nahin Manthe.
