Mangalore, Feb 6: The Eucharistic procession and inaugural of diocesan post centenary jubilee was held here on Sunday February 6.

The Holy Mass was offered by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at Milagres Church, along with many diocesan priests at 3.00 pm on Sunday.

The Eucharistic procession was followed by the Holy Mass from Milagres Church to Rosario Cathedral, on Sunday evening.

ICYM diocesan director Fr Onil D’Souza, in his homily, said that the Eucharist is a symbol of love and unity.  He cited the quote by the late John Paul II – “The role of youth is significant in sustaining the Christian faith”.  He said that since this year is dedicated to the youth by Holy See, the parents are urged to support the youth and guide them in sustaining faith.

An adoration of the Holy Eucharist and blessings were held on the occasion.

Bishop D’Souza unveiled the diocesan post centenary jubilee logo assisted by Fr Francis Rodrigues.

Diocesan vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, Udupi deanery vicar Fr Baptist Menezes, liturgical Episcopal Fr Rony Prabhu, diocesan chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, CRI president Sr Cecilia Mendonca, Rosario parish priest Fr Stany Goveas, senate council secretary Fr J B Crasta, Rosario parish council vice-president Dolphy D’Souza, deanery vicars, and lay representatives were present on the dais.

The Bishop distributed the jubilee candles to 15 deanery vicars on the occasion.

He also presented pilgrimage of Holy Cross to Fr Valerian Pinto, deanery vicar and parish priest of Holy Cross Parish, Cordel, which will be placed for veneration at the Cordel parish for a few days and ceremoniously handed over to Shaktinagar parish.  The pilgrimage of Holy Cross will cover 158 parishes across the diocese in the jubilee year.

In his message to the large gathering at Rosario Cathedral open grounds, the Bishop said that during the diocesan jubilee year the parishioners are urged to encourage youth to opt for the vocation.  He urged the parishioners to observe a day of fasting and penance when the Holy Cross makes its pilgrimage into their parishes and also pardon those who erred in order to lead life in Christ.

Fr Vijay Lobo, director, Canara Communications, screened a documentary on the life of the late Pope John Paul II.  The beatification process of Pope John Paul II is underway at the Vatican.

A large number of faithful were present through the Holy Mass and partook in the Eucharistic procession and all the religious ceremonies.

Diocesan centenary celebrations added with the Eucharistic procession thru the busy city of Mangalore are some of the admirable landmarks of Christianity that we need to embrace with lot of pride in and around Mangalore. Catholicism of India is an admirable gift to the world of faith to watch.

Eucharistic procession with the throng of Parishiners once a year is a symbol of our faith and devotion. The freedom of religion is our fundamental right in a democratic India. Our display of faith and devotion need be observed also by other faiths because that is part of the civility and loyalty that we richly cherish in a secular India.

India has also been handsomely gifted with some of the best priests and nuns whose dedicated service is now in great demand in the Western world, specially in America. Thousands of Indian priests and nuns will be needed in the West. As much as the Chrstians are a minority in India, our patriotism as Indian Christians is well admired by the world at large.

Reports published so effectively and spontaneously thru the web sites on our religious faith should be uplifted at all times because such publicity brings us joy and pride from a distance. That's our heritage, that's our legitimate faith, and that's our happiness as we earn our daily bread and ask God's blessings to continue our gift of freedom in a country such as India, the land of history and the land of democracy filled with rich secular values combined with Hinduism and Islam.

    Dear friends,

History repeats itself. Jesus Christ was humiliated, tortured and crucified for proclaiming the Word of God challenging the spiritual authority of Jewish Clergy. Martyrs (Saints) were tortured and brutally murdered for upholding the Word of God as proclaimed by Lord Jesus Christ. There is no wonder then that the same Christian faith is now reduced to celebrations and public displays until someone comes and proves otherwise.

    Regards
    Lawrence

Congratulations to all who took part in this Eucharistic public manifestation.

From the photographs it is clear that there was good organization. The huge crowd behaved in a dignified and orderly manner without giving any impression that it was but a common jatra. I am sure many a on-looker was edified by this orderly devotional procession. May the Lord bless the Diocese and its congregation.
Hope the pubic at large was not put into inconvenience on account of this.

"Come to Me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.:(Mathew-11:28-30)

Jesus Speaks: Remember I chose Mary Magdalen to tell the others I had risen,I am now choosing you to tell the world I am alive and waiting here in the Eucharist for them. For you I became Man, For you I lived, For you I died, For you I rose again, For you I live here on this Altar.I have come to bring redemption and salvation.

O Sacrament most Holy, O Sacrament Divine, all Praise and all Thanksgiving be every moment Thine.
Heavenly Father, we offer You the Most Precious Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of your dearly beloved Son our Lord Jesus Christ in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world, we offer you the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sorrow, the Praise and the Glory of all the Martyrs, the Angels and the Saints together with the offering of all the victim souls, and the offering of our soul as a victim of your love, united to all the holy Devotions, Holy Rosaries and Holy Masses that have ever been said and that will ever be said: For Your greater Glory our God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, for the Glory of Our Blessed Mother Mary, for Her intentions, for the triumph of her Immaculate Heart. For the Glory of the Holy Mother Church, for the conversion of sinners, for the dying, for the Holy Souls of Purgatory, for the baptism of those who haven't had their baptism. And with your permission we baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Receive Jesus, receive the Holy Spirit, receive Mother Mary your Mother, and receive your Salvation. And Also for our intentions, to know you, love you and serve you, for peace, harmony, health, protection, and prosperity.

Lord may we live to know you, love you and serve you, to walk blameless pure and holy before you and to be always the docile instrument of your Holy Spirit.
