Kundapur, Jun 2: “Road works from the Hangaluru gram panchayat main road till Sadananda Shetty’s residence have been approved. But the road should be constructed from main street till the residence of Ganapu Devadiga,” urged the locals in the protest staged by them.

They said that rain water will not flow freely if the road is constructed till the residence of Sadananda Shetty and there can be floods by stagnant water inconveniencing school children and agricultural activities.

“The works should be stopped if the road is not being constructed from the main street till the residence of Ganapu Devadiga,” they said handing over a petition to gram panchayat president Ananda Poojary and panchayat development officer Rajesh.

Chandra Devadiga, Vishwanath Devadiga, Sheshayya Sherigar, Raghavendra Sherigar, Narasimha Ganiga, Ananda Poojary, Narayana Master, Santhosh and villagers were present.

Good move by the protestors. Till whose house the road is to be put is decided by whom and what is the criteria. I am also facing same problem in Balaji Layout, Kannarpady Udupi. The roads have not been done from my house to adjoining houses nearby for the last 20 years. Having written application to MLA Raghupathy Bhat on our plight has also not yielded any result. Sad to say roads allotment is decided by caste basis it looks like and people having hold over these politicians.
