The 131st college day of St Aloysius College was celebrated on the grounds of the institution on Friday March 4.
 
Senior IPS officer and city police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh was the guest of honour. In his address to the large gathering of students, parents, and alumni, he said that dedication, devotion, and commitment prevailing on the college campus were unmatchable.

Singh noted that the college day programme was organized in a different sequence giving equal importance to academic and cultural programmes. He exhorted the students to work hard and to be successful in the long run.
 

 

H R Natraj Urs, joint director, Department of Collegiate Education, Mangalore Region, was the guest. In his address, he asserted that Aloysius College was fit to become a deemed university with its vivid academic and cultural prosperity.
 
Fr Joseph Rodrigues, rector of the college, presided over the function. Fr Sweebert D’Silva, principal of the college, presented the annual report for 2010-11. Dr Richard Pais, convener of College Day celebrations committee, welcomed the gathering. The college choir group sang the prayer song.

Singh honoured the achievers with mementos and medals. Vice principal Fr Denzil Lobo, Prof Ronald Pinto, Dr A Loudruswamy, Fr Francis D’Almeida, and student council president Avinand were present.
 
The college day celebrations began with a variety of cultural programmes like ‘Kalaripayattu’, ‘Mohiniattam’, and ‘Male Koilu’ dances.
