Bantwal, Jun 15: Two youths died on the spot at around 6.30 pm on Tuesday June 14 as a tipper truck collided against their motorcycle at Sornad near Siddakatte on Bantwal-Moodbidri road.

Nitesh (28), bike rider, resident of Loretto Kamalkatte and pillion Shashidhar Acharya (27), resident of Kamaje near B C Road are the unfortunate victims of this tragedy.

The duo was riding from Siddakatte to Bantwal and the tipper was coming from the opposite side. Though both were rushed to Bantwal government hospital within no time, the doctor declared them brought dead.

It is said that the negligence of tipper truck driver is the reason for the collision. In addition, the driver of the truck did not stop the vehicle after it hit the bike and kept on driving. He was chased by locals and waylaid at Kudkoli and informed the police.

The mortal remains of both deceased were handed over to their families after post mortem.

Shashidhar and Nitesh were friends. Shashidhar was working as a driver and also worked in a granite showroom. He is the only son of his parents. Recently they built a new house at Kamaje. Nitesh is survived by parents and a brother. He was a bike mechanic and also used to do odd jobs.

The road between Siddakatte and Bantwal is causing problems to riders due to many bends. As the road is two way, riders and drivers are unable to spot the vehicle coming from opposite side. On Tuesday also an accident has occurred at the same spot.

The roads in this area are very treacherous; only people who have driven on these roads know how to tackle the hairpin bends and blind curves! For a new traveller, it's a question of life and death!!

It is very unfortunate that govt not taking any action against rash driving done by Tipper, Bus and Auto. If we take count of all the accidents, 99% involves Tipper, Bus and Auto.

Accidents are sudden and keep happening in this world from time to time... However careful a road user is if his time has come unforeseen things happen... For that matter there is no need to be on the road too... Last Sunday in Brahmagiri, Udupi I saw a parasitic branch just detach and fell on the same place where usually two fisher women sit for selling fish... It would have been instant death... For that matter Dubai has no less horrible accidents even as authorities try hard to improve road safety... We can only be better careful and pray for safe drivers from other end... RIP to departed young souls...

Moodbidri-Bantwal zigzag road is very risky. Still, most of the drivers ride recklessly on this road. Concerned MP/MLA/Road authorities should consider straightening and broadening this busy road. RIP departed souls

surprising fact in india is that the life is so cheap....accident site police come and just do their job..administration never thinks of preventing more accidents. like this spot many accidents have occurred....i remember in Dubai a major accident happened at the U turn on the road that was leading to Oman from Dubai. five people died. Within hours that U turn was closed and the vehicles had to go at least two km ahead and make u turn at the circle which was less dangerous or rather not dangerous at all..

Becoz its a Royal Ruling everything was established right from start in a stream lined process systematically plus UAE has international driving system. where as here its a corrupted ruling with corrupt politicians, corrupted democracy and its falls under top lists of corruption in asia. mangalore is the only city in karnataka where signals are replaced by traffic police have to work under rain, sun, and dust. and only city where beautiful roads are dug and left open for weeks resulting in accidents and traffic jam
