Puttur: Pillion rider dies in tipper-two wheeler collision despite DC's help

Puttur, Jun 19: A woman riding pillion with her husband on a two-wheeler lost her life after it collided with a tipper at Dorme in Perne village near Uppinangady in the taluk on NH 75 on Saturday.

Poornima Bhat (47), wife of Balakrishna Bhat, who runs a shop at Harady in Puttur, is the unfortunate victim of this tragedy. The couple were returning after visiting their farm at Perne.

Dakshina Kannada DC Dr Rajendra K V who was passing by the way arranged for help to the accident victims to be taken to hospital but the Poornima succumbed.

Due to the tipper truck colliding with the two-wheeler, Poornima, who was riding pillion, was thrown on the road and sustained serious injuries. Though she was rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared her brought dead. Rider and husband of deceased Balakrishna Bhat escaped with minor injuries.

The truck driver reportedly fled the spot and tense situation prevailed in the locality for sometime.

A case in this connection is registered in Puttur traffic police station.

    lesser said the better about the safety and traffic sense in third world countries.. only those who have lost their dear ones know the pain...but cannot help...this is part and parcel for living in countries where safety and cleanliness takes last seats...

    Now a days tipper's have become a death trap same like how there mines trucks . No action taken on these drivers . Next moment they are out on Bail again they start driving. RIP to Poornima Bhat
