Chennai: 32nd International Janapada Sambhrama programme held

Chennai, Jun 27: Manjunath Education trust Mangaluru and International cultural saurabha parishat India jointly held 32rd international Janapada Saurabha programme at Varika resort auditorium here on Sunday, June 26.

Karnataka border development authority president Dr C Somashekar inaugurated the programme. M B Narayanaswamy, joint commissioner of commercial tax department was the chief guest.

Muscat Kannada Sangha president S D T Prasad, Kannada culture department joint director Balavantrao Patil, BBMP and Karnataka corporation employee’s union state president Amrath Raj, Vatika resort and club managing director Karthik Reddy, Australia Brisbane Kannada Balaga president S Preetham and author and singer Ramya Vasista present as guests of honour spoke about art and literature.

Public library department director Dr Sathish Kumar Hosamani chaired the programme.

Janapada singer G N Swamy, environmentalist Suresh Kumar, progressive farmer Mrathyunjaya Vastrada, human rights campaigner B N Lokesh and dance comedian Dr R K Satyavati were felicitated.

Several cultural programmes were performed by a number of artists. Artists from Pushkar Centre for Performing arts and Priyadarshan cultural arts, Shantala dance and music institute and Nrathyanjali Kala Niketan, Channarayapattana performed Janapada and Bharathanatya dances.

Singers Shivu, Kumar, Ramya Vashista and Sharanya sang Janapada songs and Kannada songs. Sharanya compered the programme. G N Swamy rendered vote of thanks.
