Beltangady, Jun 28: Career guidance plays a very important role in the lives of all individuals, as it helps in setting future goals and chooses careers. Career guidance is much needed service to those who did not plan for their future at an early stage; more should be done to assist the younger generations in personal career development. When graduate and post graduate students have a clear understanding of the best career choices for them, end result is better planning, more college enrollments, and a more productive society for the future.

Its an important phase in the life of the students to take a decision about career goal. By keeping above thought in the minds, as the need of hour, The post graduation students in Commerce and Final year BCom students of Sacred Heart College, Madanthyar had the opportunity of part taking in a one day Career Guidance programme on the topic 'A Journey from Campus to Corporate World' held in the college auditorium on June 27. The programme was organised by MCom department of the College. The resource person was professor Ronald Pinto, director, Institute for Individual Development, Mangaluru who has vast experience in this field.

Principal, Dr Joseph NM in his presidential address said that many students are clueless about their academic interests or ambitions. Careel development programmes plays a vital role here, by helping students identify their aptitude and choose an appropriate course to match the same. The students are made aware of the various career options available and this would certainly help them in shaping their future.

Professor Pinto inspired the young minds by highlighting the ample opportunities and career options they could choose from, with a Commerce background. He explained the relative job prospects and benefits of most of the courses, the procedure to prepare and appear for competitive exams. He also emphasized that career decision being a significant decision in one's life, the course should be selected without any compulsion from parents or peer pressure. He also gave tips for how to write attractive resume and develop it further. He gave number of subject oriented and stress oriented interview questions and its answer which will help the students most.
Wilma Priya Moras from MCom Final welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person and the cordinatore of PG studies in Commerce Nelson Monis proposed the vote of thanks. Pooja Shetty from MCom previous compeered the programme.
