Doha: Mangalore Cultural Association Holds Third AGM

Doha, Apr 1: The third annual general body meeting of the Mangalore Cultural Association here was held at the Hotel Mughal Empire, recently.

The meeting started with the MCA Anthem. Cultural secretary Arthur Pais gave a brief introduction about the incredible task done by this association in past three years. A large number of orphanages, poor students and sick families were given a helping hand in this tenure. With the support of all MCA members all programmes conducted in the past three years have been a great success, making a mention of the last GVOM which was a hit and succeeded to grab an audience of over 800 (first time for any Konkani show in Qatar) .






































President Harry Lobo welcomed all members present and thanked them for their continuous support towards the association. He specially mentioned the role of the advisory committee members in the nurture of the MCA, their selfless efforts and thoughtfulness towards the poorest of the poor of our society even though they are fully occupied in their professional fields. Harry specially mentioned the efforts of Stephany Lobo in providing hospitality for all the guests and also for her special hand in Monti fest celebrations.

He spoke about the hard work of the executive committee members and the support of the other MCA members and thanked each one for their constant support in all the projects of the association. With their help a total number, 2,619 children 45 orphanages were aided, 235 children of 10 schools were provided help in their education and 18 families were sent medical aid. He also announced the future programmes decided for the year 2011.

The annual report for the past year was read by the general secretary Benjamin Rebeiro. This mainly highlighted the financial support given to various orphanages, sick and the needy and the poor children for their education along and also the programmes conducted by MCA in the year 2010-2011.

The finance report was read by the treasurer Clement Saldanha.

Advisory committee members present on the dais Felix Lobo, Jerry Pinto and Wilfred Fernandes shared their thoughts and concerns about the association. They emphasized everyone present to actively take part in the various activities conducted by the association and also to
introduce many other families to MCA.

Games were conducted by Wilma D’Souza and Wilson Mendonca and prizes distributed to the winners by the GVOM winners Preema Pinto & Rupert Lobo and by Joseph Mathias. Vice-president Jason Quadros thanked each and everyone for making the annual general body meeting a grand
success.
