Mangaluru, Aug 10: Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar has denied any murder bid on a person in Kankanady police limits.
He has clarified that no person had followed in a bid to murder and that it was far from truth.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, August 9, he said a person had approached the Kankanady police and had filed a complaint stating that he had received threats to his life over the internet and through phone calls. He said the complainant had also claimed that someone had followed him and that a case had been registered.
The police commissioner said on investigation it was found that he had received threats over the internet a few times and added that a probe into the phone calls that he had received is being conducted.
The police commissioner also clarified that on examining the CCTV footage it was found food delivery vehicles had followed the complainant which was endorsed by the latter.
Shashi Kumar said on social media it was reported that there was a murder attempt and that there were bikes that waylaid a person after a chase and also that the person had escaped and reached home. He said no such incident had happened.
The police commissioner said he had himself paid a visit to Kankanady police station to ascertain the facts after the complaint was filed on Monday. He said he spoke to the person and examined all the facts.
Sometime after receiving a call and when the person was going out he suspected that someone was following him, the police commissioner said adding that persons who have such suspicions should report the matter to the police immediately and not post them on the social media as it would disturb the law and order of the city or the locality.
