Alva's Pragathi: More than 10,000 Aspirants on Day Two, 1,256 Get Jobs

Moodbidri, Apr 10: The second day of Alva’s Pragathi 2011, a mega job fair organized by Alva’s Education Foundation at Vidyagiri Campus, received overwhelming response on Sunday April 10, replicating the success of day one.
Around 10,000 job aspirants, mainly from Kasargod, Madikeri, Davanagere, Belgaum, Chikmagalur, Sagar, Sirsi, Bangalore and Mysore took part in the fair on the second.
The number of girl participants was higher on day two. Interviews were conducted by Infosys, IBM, Suzlon, Angel Broking, Share Khan, among other companies. IBM will continue its interview on Monday too.
As many as 1256 candidates who appeared for interviews were selected. On day one, 1664 aspirants got jobs, making a total of 2920. As good response was witnessed on the first two days, most of the companies finished their interviews on Sunday. Some selected companies will participate on the third day.
On the third and last day (Monday April 11) candidates can participate in the job fair by registering their names on the venue.
Feedback by selected candidates
Suchitra of Kushalnagar who got the job in Andromeda Company said that she is overwhelmed with joy as her dream of getting a job is fulfilled. "I am impressed by the orderliness and smooth conduct of events by the volunteers throughout the day," she added.
Manjushree of Kodagu district said that Alva’s Education Foundation has organized this job fair very systematically. Manjushree too was chosen by Andromeda Company.
Anjusha of Kerala who got a job in Wipro through this fair said that she was confused as to which company she should select to work for. She added that it was a great experience for her.
Asha Bhat of Surathkal who got into Infosys said that she is proud of getting an opportunity to work for a prestigious company like Infosys. Alva’s has provided a good platform for those who otherwise are forced to approach high-charging job agents.
Vinod of Madikeri said that he got a job in Tech Mahindra. He expressed his happiness over the job fair and said that it helped many students as it was free of cost.
Rathi from Kaikamba said that there were doors open for those who want to serve in social work also. Job seekers had plenty of options to choose the company of their own interest, she said. She was chosen by Sarvodaya Seva Foundation.
Company representatives’ feedback
Sudhir Jain of ITC Limited said that he observed that some of the job aspirants, though they had communication skills, lacked technical skills. Thus they need to understand the present requirement of companies. Alva’s has provided a great opportunity for all, he added.
Ravikumar of MCF said that it was good to see so many students participating with such enthusiasm. However, a few of them came without preparation. The great step taken by Dr Mohan Alva is appreciable, he said.
Mithesh of You Broadband said that this job fair deserves appreciation by all, as it has given a platform for both companies as well as students to choose the best.
