Belagavi, Sep 5: Basavasiddalinga Swamiji of Neginahala Math ended his life here on Monday September 5.
Swamiji hanged himself in his room. He was the chief seer of Guru Madivaleshwara Math of Neginahala village of Bailahongala taluk of the district.
An audio clip of two women conversing about swamijis of maths went viral a few days ago on social media. They were discussing about the sexual harassment case filed on Murugha Sharana Swamiji.
One of the women says in the audio that several Math seers sexually harass women. The woman further mentions the name of Basavasiddalinga Swamiji during the conversation. It is said that the swamiji might have killed himself as the conversation went viral on social media.
Exact reason for the extreme step taken by swamiji is not yet known. It is said that he has written a death note. But the police have not yet disclosed the contents of the same.
