Update

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 3: In a political upheaval, the Congress party faced a setback in the assembly election results for Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, succumbing to the sweeping influence of the Narendra Modi wave. The post-election predictions were also overturned, reshaping the dynamics of power.

Among the five states, namely Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, the BJP emerged victorious in three, while the Congress secured a victory in only one state.

In Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh, the Congress party found itself overwhelmed by the Narendra Modi tsunami, defying earlier survey calculations. Predictions had suggested a close contest between Congress and BJP in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, with BJP eventually clinching power. Conversely, it was anticipated that Congress would ascend to power in Chhattisgarh and Telangana. However, the results tell a different story, with BJP securing a decisive majority in three states, leaving Congress triumphant in only one.

Despite Congress's previous success in the 2018 assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the party faced a significant setback in the recent polls. The rebellion led by Jyotiraditya Singh in 2020 allowed BJP to capitalize on the situation through Operation Kamal, leading to the resignation of approximately 22 Congress MLAs who then pledged support to BJP, reinstating Shivraj Singh Chauhan as the Chief Minister. In the current election, BJP secured a comfortable victory with 169 seats, while Congress lagged behind with around 60 seats.

Similarly, in Rajasthan, the Congress experienced a major setback, bowing to the massive Modi wave. In the 2018 assembly elections, Congress emerged as the largest party with 99 seats out of 200. However, the recent election results depict a sharp decline for Congress, securing only 71 seats, while BJP claimed a total of 114 seats.

In Chhattisgarh, the Congress, which had governed for five years following its victory in the 2018 assembly elections, faced an unexpected decline in voter support. Despite initial leads in the vote counting, the Congress lost ground, allowing BJP to secure victory with 55 seats, while Congress reached close to 35 seats in the 90-seat assembly.

Amidst these defeats, Telangana emerged as the only saving grace for Congress. Despite facing an anti-incumbency wave, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) led by CM Chandrasekhar Rao suffered a resounding defeat in Telangana. Congress won 66 out of 119 seats, while BRS settled for 38 seats. BJP secured 8 seats, and Asaduddin Owaisi's party claimed 7 seats.

In summary, the BJP achieved a significant triumph by winning three out of the five states in the elections, setting the tone for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The Congress, however, managed to avert a complete humiliation by securing power in Telangana.

Earlier

New Delhi, Dec 3:
In the ongoing Assembly poll vote counting, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is establishing a comfortable lead in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, with an ambitious target of wresting Chhattisgarh from the Congress. Simultaneously, the Congress in Telangana is positioned to unseat the BRS government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, marking a significant shift in the power dynamics of another southern state.

Both the BJP and the Congress strategically framed their campaigns with an eye on the upcoming general elections. The BJP, having secured victories in Gujarat and Tripura last year but facing setbacks in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, seeks wins in these state elections to bolster its momentum leading up to the Lok Sabha polls. Conversely, the Congress is fervently aiming to secure victories in a couple of states, anticipating that these triumphs will strengthen its position during seat-sharing negotiations with allies in the INDIA bloc.

In the initial phases of the counting process, the Bharatiya Janata Party appears poised to reclaim power from the Congress in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, while maintaining its stronghold in Madhya Pradesh. In Telangana, the Congress is currently leading in 65 out of 199 seats, posing a challenge to the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, which has governed the state for the past decade and is currently ahead on 39 seats. The unfolding electoral landscape promises significant implications for the political landscape, setting the stage for the impending national elections.

Previou Report

New Delhi, Dec 3 (IANS): BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill on Sunday expressed confidence in the party's electoral prospects, declaring an imminent victory in the Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. As per the latest trends, the BJP was currently leading in these key states.

"BJP will win 3-0 in this Assembly elections. The party's 'vijay rath' will come to Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh." The spokesperson exuded optimism, painting a picture of triumph for the BJP in these crucial battlegrounds.

The BJP has surpassed the halfway point in Rajasthan, with their candidates leading in 102 seats, while the Congress was ahead in 77, as per the Election Commission trends for the state's Assembly polls on Sunday at 10:50 a.m.

In Chhattisgarh, the BJP was leading in 43 seats, and the Congress in 37, according to the ECI website.

BJP was leading massively in Madhya Pradesh with 150 followed by Congress with 65 seats.

In Telangana, the Congress was leading in 58, BRS in 33, BJP in 7, and CPI was leading on one.

The counting of votes for the 119-member Telangana Assembly, 199 seats in 200-member Rajasthan Assembly, 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly and 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly began at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

Workers and supporters who have gathered in party offices, holding placards and raising slogans, seemed to have high expectations from their respective parties.

Polling for Chhattisgarh took place in two phases on November 7 and 17, while Madhya Pradesh voted on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25 and Telangana on November 30.

Earlier report

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 3: The stage is finally set for counting of votes for the assembly elections 2023 in the crucial states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh with many top political parties making claims of their victory.

It is a high-stakes election and every party's performance is expected to have a bearing on the next general election slated for 2024.

Most exit poll results projected a neck-and-neck contest in Madhya Pradesh with a marginal edge to the Congress. In Rajasthan, the exit poll results suggested a BJP victory in a closely contested battle. The Congress party is predicted to hold on to Chhattisgarh and clinch Telangana from K Chandrashekhar Rao's Bharat Rashtra Samithi.

The early trends will start tricking in as soon as the counting of votes begins at 8 am. However, the initial trends could change quickly as the postal ballots are counted first, followed by the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

Dear RG & Congress ideologues Please do not loose heart. You have put in your hard work and few have played the spoilsport. When u put together all 4 states votes, Congress is ahead by 9 lakh votes. You have a solid vote base but Congress need to do some quick corrections. Make all aged Congressmen sit at home and invest in honest and hard working youngsters. Yes, result will not come overnight but this is the right way to go and you will see wonders in 3-6 years.

The promise of Rs. 450 gas cylinder, 50 lakhs health insurance etc. all of which the BJP termed as 'revdis' in the earlier elections, offered by Congress to the voters, has now been promised by the BJP. And why? Only to win the elections. Please remember the welfare state has not and has never been the BJP’s agenda. The BJP only deals with welfare when faced with certain defeat, which forced the party to change tune in the Rajasthan, MP and Chattisgarh elections. The Laadli Behna scheme was also one such lollipop to the voters, where in the past 10 years, Chouhan has never bothered to offer any such schemes….nor has Modi, Shah. The Congress forced the BJP to change track and offer the electorate substantial benefits, which resulted in the BJP taking up the ‘Congress Guarantees’. Why has the BJP not done so since 2014? Why are other BJP states not getting the same benefits? That’s because, the BJP has set its eye on re-election and in 2024, if elected, there will be increase in GST, gas prices and others, to make up for their losses. If the BJP’s governance can afford gas at 450, then why are they charging 1200, since 2014. Who is making this money and where does this money go? As for me, since 2014, I am waiting for the 15 lakhs offered by Gobhiji, in his impassioned speeches. I wonder, if the bhakts have already gotten the money, since they support Modi so vociferously. Have you received the 15 lakhs?

Congratulations BJP on a massive victory in all 5 states . 3 directly and 2 indirectly . Mizoram will be part of NDA & Telangana CM is a BJP guy who had met Amit Shah and plan was set few months back to send regional party BRS out of the state. BJP wants Congress in areas where regional parties can dent their voteshare . His experience from his ABVP college days will help grow the state . He is not from both the groups of Rahul or Priyanka vadra and has his own solid vote base . This is never go well with the high command . Remember he was with TDP and recently Chandrababu Naidu wants to come back to NDA and has returned a favour indirectly .  Next year elections BJP will have a massive landslide victory with over 350 plus seats . I.N.D.I.A alliance in shatters! Wonder were is Arvind Kejriwal & others! BJP won all 3 states head on Congress and Congress won ONLY against regional party . Now regional parties will not waste their funds for loksabha elections and BJP wants exactly that! Could be BRS, JDS, AIADMK, Etc . Its clear Amit Shah sets the narrative for every election and its results !
