Mangalore: Mandd Sobhann 'Kalakar Puraskar' for Francis Fernandes Cascia

Mangalore, Oct 25: Mandd Sobhann committee has chosen Francis Fernandes Cascia for the ‘Mandd Sobhann – Carvalho Gharanne Kalakar Puraskar’, for his unique contribution to Konkani theatre. 

Francis Fernandes Cascia has written and directed 32 Konkani dramas, 2 novels and also released three DVDs of his dramas.  His play titled ‘Mhataro Chorbela’ has created a record with 62 presentations in different countries.

Every year a deserving Konkani artiste of Karnataka origin is chosen for this Award, which consists of a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a citation, a trophy and public honour. This is the 9th year that this award is being conferred.

The Award will be presented by Prince Jacob, president, Tiatr Academy of Goa, during the 143rd monthly theatre on November 3 at 6 pm at Kalaangann.

Well-known singer Kenneth Zuzarte and his troupe from Mumbai will present ‘Kenny’s Musical Fiesta’ on the occasion.

All are welcome. Admission is free.
