Udupi, Dec 25: Christmas Eve was celebrated with much joy at Mother of Sorrows Church here. Fr Valerian Mendonca, parish priest, celebrated the Holy Eucharistic Mass.
Fr.Vijay Dsouza, assistant parish priest in his sermon said, "We have prepared our houses and ourselves to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ. Indians have been ranked top in the richest people of world, and we also have occupied top position in people dying of starvation.”
“Today, Jesus is born in the houses of poor. We need to help the poor rather than to make our Christ richer,” he said.
Carol singing increased the festive spirit among the faithful. Fr Valerian Mendonca himself led the carol singing. A beautiful tableau along with carol singing in background was presented by the parishioners, which gave a holistic touch to the celebrations.
