Dammam, Jan 8: MASA organized their 11th annual day celebration ‘Sammilana’ on January 5 at Crystal Hall, Dammam with lot of salutations and a large holiday crowd stamped their presence to ensure they do not miss out the glittering evening.
Entertainment committee head Dayanand Chowta welcomed members and guests in his speech and promised an extravaganza evening which lived up to expectations.
The gala night kicked off around 5 pm with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the excom and advisory committee members.
The annual report was presented by general secretary Mohammed Nooman which included details of various events held during the year, membership status, sponsorship, achievements, charity done during the year 2017 for medical and educational aid to the needy back home and also some of the members in KSA. Nooman complied audio and video visuals from ex-members who have tracked back home for good lately which brought some fond memories of their absence but as they say the show must go on, MASA delivered yet again an imposing event for everyone to remember.
Addressing the gathering, president Sadashiv Poojary emphatically thanked members for rendering dedicated services to MASA. He thanked the committee for its meticulous planning and its implementation in conducting various events successfully under the professional guidance of advisory committee and dedicated teams of excom, assessment, sports, media and entertainment committees. He emphasized on the commitment of MASA in fulfilling its main objectives, serving for the noble cause and at the same time focusing on up bringing the talents among MASA members; teens and adults.
The president in his speech also welcomed everyone and assured that it would be a majestic evening with some wonderful performances lined up and some delicious snacks and dinner served. He thanked the sponsors and participants for their contribution and appealed to crowd to donate relentlessly which could help someone back home. MASA known for the untiring work in assisting the downtrodden presented a scintillating evening with some lovely musical and theoretical ambience for everyone to enjoy the day and go back home with some lovely memories.
Children and adults of different age groups presented live music with their melodious voice and danced to foot tapping rhythms to make it a very lively occasion. There were some gimmicks and lovely skits too which kept the crowd roaring and applauding every performance.
Taking to the stage in confident strides, every individual and groups exhibited their skills in singing and dancing to popular hit tunes.
As been the tradition, MASA honored its deserving members with various awards for their achievements during the year 2017.

Awards were presented to winners of internal cricket tournaments, sports day champions, Vinay Bhandary Memorial internal volleyball, throw ball tournament and V B Memorial drawing competition. Special consolation prizes were given to all food festival stall owners.
Sports Day Championship award in female catergory was won by team Smitha Holla and Siya Chowta and they were respectively honoured, while in male category Aditya Jeetesh Kottara, Mahendra Billave and Nagaraj Bajal took away the honours.

Then came the moment for which audience were eagerly waiting for; the announcement of the prestigious award, the 'MASA Man of the Year' award. Every year this award is given for the dedication, commitment, endurance and tireless service to MASA. It was a proud and emotional moment for Mohammed Nooman as he humbly accepted the prestigious Man of the Year award. While addressing the gathering, he thanked MASA management and excom for considering him for this honor and assured to continue his dedication and commitment towards service to humanity.
Mohammed Nooman along with wife and children were honored with a memento, shawl and bouquet by the president and advisory committee members. A standing ovation was given by the jam-packed crowd for the well-deserved award.
Award ceremony was conducted by Viraj Shetty, Naveen Bhandary and Ravi Karkera while the cultural events were anchored by Amrit D’Souza, Nayaz Kaiser and Mohammed Nooman. An awesome evening unraveled sheer talent of children and adults providing mesmerizing entertainment in its entire grandeur.

Snacks were served during the course of the programme. The vote of thanks was presented by joint secretary Sathish Bajal. The joyful and memorable MASA’s 11th anniversary ‘Sammilana’ celebration concluded with singing national anthem followed by a delicious dinner.
