Recipes - Jeera Rice

Ingredients:

2 cups basmati rice
3 ½ cups water
2 tsp. jeera (cumin)
1 large onion (sliced)
2 tbsp. ghee/ oil
Salt as per taste
2 tbsp. chopped coriander leaves
Fried onion & nuts (optional)

Method:

Wash rice and soak in water for half an hour. In a heavy bottomed saucepan, heat ghee/oil. Add jeera and splutter.  Later add sliced onion and fry until slightly brown. Now add drained rice and fry for 2 minutes. Add water and salt as per taste. After a boil, simmer and cook covered until water dries up. Garnish with coriander leaves & fried onion & nuts (optional).

Serve with pickle/ curd or raitha.

    This is a quick and easy recipe which tastes wonderful and is healthy too! I used corn oil instead of Ghee and added some green chillies to make it spicy. Thanks!
