Recipes - Star Fruit / Carambola Kai Rasa
Ingredients:
1 cup star fuit (chopped)
2 tbsp. jaggery (powdered)
1 tbsp. oil
1 tbsp. channa dal
1 tbsp. urad dal
1/4 tsp. fenugreek/methi seeds
1/2 tsp. coriander seeds
4 long red chillies
1/4 tsp. asafetida/hing
Salt as per taste
Method:
Wash and clean the star furits. Scrape the ridges and chop star fruits. Cook chopped star fruits adding jaggery, salt and little water.
Heat oil in a small pan. Saute fenugreek, channa and urad dal, chillies and asafoetida. Allow the spices to cool. Later powder the roasted ingredients. Add little water to this masala powder and mix well. Add this mixture to the cooked star fruit. Bring it to a boil adjusting the consistency adding water.
Serve with rice or rotis of your choice.
