Recipes - Pathrode Rolls

Ingredients:

15-20 colocasia leaves
½ cup dosa rice
½ cup green gram
½ cup channa dal
8-10 long red chillies
Small ball of tamarind
¼ tsp. asafetida/ hing
1 tsp. jeera
2-3 pepper corns
Salt as per taste
Coconut oil for smearing

Method:

Clean and dry the colocasia leaves.  Remove the hard ridges or nerves.   Soak rice, green gram and channa dal overnight or for 6-8 hours.  Then strain and grind along with chilles, jeera, tamarind and pepper corns into smooth paste.  Add hing and salt as per taste.

Place the biggest leaf upside down and spread little batter evenly. Place another leaf and repeat the procedure for about 5 to 7 leaves and then fold the sides and roll it tightly. Make similar rolls and then steam in the steaming pot / thondor  for about 15 mts.  on high flame and then on slow flame for about 20 mts. or until done.

Cut in rounds and serve smearing coconut oil.

Leftovers could be fried in oil before serving.
