Bengaluru, Oct 16: Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan flagged off the “Gandhada Gudi” bike rally and sapling planting programme in memory of Puneeth Rajkumar in Bengaluru on Sunday.

Speaking after releasing the teaser of the Kannada film, “Gandhada Gudi,” and flagging off the bike rally as also joining the sapling planting programme, Dr Narayan said the Kannada power star Puneeth had shown his love for nature and has also become a model for all human beings to have deep relationship with nature.

The minister, who flagged off the bike rally from the Aranya Bhavan premises, personally joined the bike rally by riding a bike from the Aranya Bhavan till the Cauvery cinema theatre junction in Malleswaram.

Ashwini Rajkumar and film director J S Amoghavarsha were present at the function.

Dr Narayan said it was a great moment for the Gandhada Gudi film with no less a person than Prime Minister Narendra Modi extending greetings through a tweet as the film depicts the environmental wealth and glory of Karnataka.

Climate change has become a major concern for the entire mankind, he said pointing out that the heavy rains in the State and other parts of the country have underscored the importance of nature.

Dr Narayan lauded the contribution of Puneeth Rajkumar and his love for nature. He was a silent but socially committed person, who had espoused values in life. “All of us need to love and respect nature and develop social commitment,” he added.
