Udupi, May 7: A student, who was unnerved at the prospect of facing examinations, chose to end his life instead. Rakshit H M (20), son of Dr H S Mohan, took this extreme step.

Rakshit was a student of BSc (bio technology) in life sciences. His body was found lying on the railway tracks on Thursday May 5 morning near the local railway station at Indrali.

The family said that Rakshit had not succeeded in passing earlier examinations. He always worried about the coming examinations, and hence, his studies were affected adversely. Because of fear of facing the examination, he was depressed. A complaint filed with Manipal police station said that the boy had committed suicide because of his deep-rooted fear towards facing examinations.

The policemen of Manipal station registered a case, and began investigation.

    So sad indeed loss of a precious youth.
    I would say '3 Idiots" movie with such a beautiful message and reality of student life to be screened compulsory on campus and to be made watched by both students and their Parents/Guardian.
