Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS)

Udupi, Dec 2: Clarifying on the revision of toll fee at Hejmady toll gate, deputy commissioner (DC) Kurma Rao said, “Suratkal toll gate is merged with Hejmady toll gate as per the gazette notification of union government. The date of implementing revised toll fee is still not decided. According to the request of NHAI, we have provided suitable security to Hejmady toll gate.

“People representatives have objected to the hike in toll fee. A meeting in this regard will be called soon. We have not received any objection from public or other organizations so far. If the same is received, we will scrutinize it. NHAI will inform the district administration when the revised toll fee will begin.”

SP Hake Akshay Macchindra said, “I have got information that the toll gate protest committee has called for protest. We do not have any issue if the protest is held in a democratic manner. However, in case of closure of the highway or damage to property, we will take legal action. A meeting in this connection is already held in Kaup police station and instructions are given.”

Meanwhile, all preparations are done by Congress and the anti-toll gate merger committee to hold a protest near Hejmady toll gate on December 2.
