Mangalore, May 20: “The tendency of Muslims to avoid participation in the political system is incorrect. If that continues, one day the people of the community will be duped. Muslims may also lose control over the governance system,” feared B A Moideen, former Karnataka minister.

He was speaking after inaugurating the thanksgiving ceremony for elected Muslim people’s representatives organized by Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishat, Mangalore, at the Town Hall on Thursday May 19.

Moideen added that there is a general idea about Muslims being business-minded. “But merely being business people is not the sole quality of Muslims. The ratio of Muslim leaders to the population is very disproportionate as very few leaders have been emerging from the community. In order to realize
Panchayat Raj system, which was a whim of Gandhiji, only those who respond to the sufferings of people should be elected as our representatives,” he stressed.

Y Abdulla Kunhi, president, Kendra Jumma Maszid, Mangalore, released the CD comprising details of elected Muslim people representatives of DK district.

About 420 Muslim people’s representatives including members of zilla panchayat and taluk panchayat, corporators in MCC, members of township, and gram panchayat, were congratulated.

Abdul Mazid Suralpady, president, Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishat, presided. B M Mumtaz Ali welcomed. Mohammed Kunjathbail delivered the vote of thanks. Abdul Azeez Baikampady delivered the ‘thanksgiving’ speech. B A Mohammed Hanif delivered his talk on ‘Political Priority for Muslim Community’.

THE SO CALLED MINORITY FAVOURING PARTY IS NOT READY TO GIVE PARTY TICKETS TO MUSLIMS BUT WANT ONLY MUSLIM VOTES! SUCH POLITICAL PARTIES USE THEM FOR THEIR CAUSE IN THE NAME OF RELIGION. THE BEARY COMMUNITY DEMAND FOR THEIR RIGHTS WITH SUCH PARTIES THEN THE WHOLE TRUTH WILL COME OUT. SIMPLY TALKING OF PARTICIPATION WILL NEVER YIELD ANY RESULTS.
