Udupi: Good medical facilities to be available for migrants, poor in Namma Clinic – CMC chief

Udupi, Dec 14: “Good medical facilities will be available for migrants staying in urban areas and the poor through Namma Clinic,” said president of the city municipal council Sumitra Nayak. She was speaking after inaugurating Namma Clinic at Beedinagudde today.

“All the essential 13 services will be provided free of cost avoiding payment of exorbitant charges at the private hospitals. All can make use of the clinic,” she said.

Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao said that a clinic each will be opened for a population of 20,000 in the beginning. “Three clinics have been opened at Udupi, two in Kundapura and one in Karkala,” he said.

Municipal councillor Girish Anchan presided over the programme. Council standing committee president Balakrishna Shetty, Rajani Hebbar and health department officials were present.

District health and family welfare officer Dr Nagabhushan Udupa welcomed. Dr Nagarathna gave an introduction. Taluk health officer Dr Vasudev Upadhyaya rendered the vote of thanks.

The Namma Clinics were inaugurated at Nittur and Kakkunje also.
