Ministers Ashwini, Ashwath hold discussions with top honchos of big companies

Bengaluru, Dec 18: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav as well as State Higher Education and IT/BT, Skill Development and Science and Technology Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan held a consultation meeting with the top executives of leading companies like Infosys, Wipro, IBM, TCS as well as those from IT, BT, Start-up and ESDM sectors in Bengaluru on Sunday and received assurance that industry-friendly policies will be framed by the Centre soon.

The Union Minister as well as Dr Narayan heard the suggestions from the top executives of over 25 leading companies in and around Bengaluru and assured that the Union Government would shortly come out with a Comprehensive Digital Financial Control Policy and also frame clear guidelines in the policy on research and development as part of the Make in India initiative.

The Union Minister asked the State’s IT Vision Group Chairman Kris Gopalakrishnan, Start-Up Vision Group Chairman Prashant Prakash and Karnataka Digital Economy Mission Chief B V Naidu to give a report on the requirements of the State’s IT, Start-UP and ESDM Sector companies.

The Centre has always been holding consultations with industrialists before framing policy formulations and urged the top executives to come out with their list of demands and suggestions so that suitable solutions could be found for their problems, he said.

The Union Minister pointed out that the government was aware of the shortage of skilled personnel for the country’s mechanical sectors and advised the industries concerned to design at least one course curriculum for implementation by any one university.

He asked Viscon and Foxcon companies to take the lead in devising the course curriculum and syllabus.

Given the fact that there is a bright future for the semi-conductor sector, the minister felt that a 20-year long-term plan must be prepared to make it possible. There is need for making use of modern technology-based enterprises. If the incubation programmes prove successful, they can be replicated in other states as well, he said.

The minister promised necessary help and support from the Railway Ministry for solving the transport bottlenecks and utilize its vast fleet of 30,000 coaches. The industries can take up the proposal from Bengaluru itself on a pilot basis, he said explaining that it will give a big fillip to the Ease of Doing Business model.

He said the government has reduced the time limit for granting permissions for establishing telecom towers to seven days from the earlier 7 to 8 months and assured that all steps for solving infrastructural issues will be taken.

Start-Up Vision Group Chairman Prashant Prakash, Amrit Acharya of Jetwork, NASSCOM’s K S Vishwanath, Sunil Deshpande from TCS, Kartik Neelakantan from Infosys, Lingaraju from Kindrel, Manoj Prasad from Siemans, Manu Salefrom Mercedes Benz as well top executives of Goldman Saacchs, Accenture, Micron, President, Teamlease, Lorg Materials, ISpritt, Angel Investros, Captain Fresh, Blackbuck and other leading companies participated. State IT/BT Department Additional Chief Secretary E V Ramana Reddy was also present.

The Union Railway Minister later inaugurated the renovated Malleswaram Primary Health Centre.
