Belagavi, Dec 21: JD(S) Deputy Leader in the Assembly Bandeppa Kashempur has urged the Basavaraj Bommai government to remain firm on the border row with Maharashtra and not to cede even one inch of land.

Participating in the discussion on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border issue in the assembly, he demanded that the BJP government must maintain a consistent stand on the issue before the Centre and also in the Supreme Court.

Kashempur urged the government to appoint competent advocates to defend its stand on the petition filed by Maharashtra before the apex court. It is the duty of the double-engine BJP regime to protect the interests of the State first, he said.
