Udupi, Dec 22: Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association (UDWJA) has completed 25 years. In the wake of the silver jubilee celebrations, the association has decided to hold 25 programmes throughout the year.
A committee is formed to celebrate the silver jubilee and senior reporter Mohammed Sharif Karkala is elected as the convener.
The committee will hold literary, cultural and workshops related to journalism from January 2023 to December 2023. It will also felicitate journalists who are working 24x7 in various fields. A fund will also be formed to help needy journalists of Udupi district.
Sports event will also be held. Discussions with achievers in various fields and people representatives with regards to development of the district will be held. Workshop, photography and video making training will be given to students of journalism.
Office bearers of silver jubilee committee include Mohammed Sharif Karkala (Convener), Rajesh Shetty Alevoor (president), Jayakara Suvarna (chief secretary), Deepak Jain (joint secretary) and Umesh Marpalli (treasurer).
Honorary advisors include Gokuldas Pai, Dinesh Kini, Kiran Manjanabailu, Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, N Gururaj and A S N Hebbar.
Vice presidents include Ganesh Nayak, Anduka, Suresh Ermal, Shashidhar Hemmady, Rajesh Achladi and Ajit Aradi.
Financial committee consists of K C Rajesh, R B Jagadish, Rakesh Kunjoor, Harish Hejmady, Nagaraja Rayappanamata, Hebri Udaya Shetty, Arun Kumar Shiroor, Mohan Udupa, Janardhan Kodavoor, Ganesh Saibarakatte and Ganesh Kallianpura.
Cultural committee includes Shashidar Mastibailu, Astro Mohan, Anil Kairangala, Rashmi Ammembala, Hariprasad Nandalike, Udaya Padiyar, Lokesh Thekkatte, Pundalika Marate, Ravindra Kota, Nagaraj Rao Varkady, Praveen Muddoor and John D’Souza.
Sports committee includes Raju Kharvi, Chethan Matapady, Prashant Pade, Udaya Mundkoor, Raghavendra Bhat, Krishna Bijoor, Hameed Padubidri, Chandrashekhar Beejadi, Dinesh Kashipatna and Ashwath Acharya.
Souveneir cum book committee includes U S Shenoy, Suji KUrya, Balachandar, B B Shettigar, Shbhash Chandra Wagle, Sheeja, Sheshagiri Bhat and Radhika.
Programme organizing committee includes, Nazeer Pollya, Pramod Suvarna, Rajesh Achladi, K M Khalil, Parikshit Shet, Rama Ajekaru, Rakshith Belapu, Nitish, Laxmi Macchina, Avin Shetty, Jeevan R Shetty and Harish Palecchar.
