Udupi, Dec 23: “The road passing from the post office on Manipal national highway, the road passing from Manipal bus stand and the roads from Alevoor are joining and there are possibilities of accidents due to the intersection of the roads. Therefore, it is appropriate to construct a circle here and name it after one of the mentors of Manipal late T A Pai,” said chief secretary of district Nagarika Samithi and social worker Nityananda Olakadu.

Speaking in a news conference here today, he said that the achievements of T A Pai are immense. “He joined as the deputy of Syndicate bank in 1943, decorated several senior positions in the bank and served as the managing director of the bank. The government of India appointed him as the president of Life Insurance Corporation and the union minister.

T A Pai was the symbol of growth and had received several honours and awards. Therefore it is the aspiration of people to give his name to the circle. The district administration should think over it,” he said.

Nagarika Samithi office bearers Kamalaksha Prabhu, Sadshiva Kotian, B Ashok Pai and Seema were present in the news conference.
