Kundapur: B Appanna Hegde feted on his 88th birthday, scholarships given away

Kundapur, Dec 25: Hampi Kannada University vice-chancellor Dr B A Vivek Rai said it is rare to see people like Basaruru Appanna Hegde who are leading an morally upright and exemplary life that is worthy of emulation and that people of the generation were lucky to be living amidst Hegde's presence.

He was presiding over the birthday celebration function of B Appanna Hegde who turned 88 on Saturday, December 24 at the Sri Sharada College of Basaruru, organised under the aegis of Basaruru Appanna Hegde Pratishthana.

Awards and endowment scholarships were given away at the function.

Prof A V Napad was honoured with the B Appanna Hegde Education Award.

Backward Classes Commission chairman Jayaprakash Hegde, Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, State Food and Civil Supplies corporation vice-chairman Kiran Kumar Kodgi hailed B Appanna Hegde.

Subashchandra Shetty Bandya, Sushant Rai, Nirupama Hegde and Preetham S Rai were also present. Pratisthana trustee Anupama S Shetty welcomed and administrative trustee Ramkishan Hegde read the annual report. Sunil Pandeshwara read out the felicitation letter. Rajesh K P compered and Sharada College principal Dr Chandravathi Shetty proposed a vote of thanks.
