Bengaluru, Jan 1: The Sampige Road from Malleswaram circle to Yesvanthpur circle, which has been developed overall along with white-topping was opened for public use on Sunday.
Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Higher Education Minister and MLA of the constituency, participated in the bike rally which was held on the occasion.
The minister rode an electric scooter from Malleswaram circle to Yeshwantpur circle in the rally which witnessed over 1,000 participants taking part.
Prior to this, the Minister offered garland to the Kuvempu statue at Malleswaram circle.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Narayan said the road stretching 7.5 km has been developed keeping in mind the growth of the locality in the next 30 years.
“All the utility connectivities including feeder line, water pipe, sewage line, electric cable have been laid underground scientifically. Footpaths have also been made pedestrian friendly. This will prevent necessity of digging roads to facilitate basic amenities. Besides, measures have been taken to stop leakage of water,’’ he explained.
To ensure efficient sanitary management, manholes have been constructed at a distance of every 20 ft, Dr Narayan informed.
Former corporators Jaipal, Manjunatha, Manjunatharaju, BJP leaders Suresh Gowda and Dr Vasu were present.
