Kundapur, Jan 9: “Language is never a hindrance for learning. Counties like China and Japan are educating their students in their mother tongue. But it is really sad to see that Kannada schools are losing their charm in Karnataka. Instead of increasing the Kannada schools, they have to be retained and upgraded. How it is possible to expect progress from a government which cannot provide one teacher per class?” said Dr Mohan Alva, president of Alva’s group of educational institutions.
Alva spoke after inaugurating the Kadamba school building that was donated by Vakwadi Gurukula School to the Kodladi government higher primary school.
Alva further said, “It is the duty of the local people to develop the Kannada schools from time to time. The idea of society is not limited to government alone. It should be within everyone. The deed of Subhashchandra Shetty and Anupama Shetty of Gurukula institutions is exemplary. God will be pleased with their work.”
Dr Vadiraja Gopadi, RSS Mangaluru Karyavaha said, “Most of achievers of present times have studied in rural schools. Kannada is not only a language but is the emblem of a culture. The contribution of Gurukula institutions is appreciable. Education should not be limited to four walls. During the rule of kings there were no ill effects on society. But in today’s political system everything has changed.”
Founder of Bandya educational trust B Appanna Hegde presided over the function. Bandya Subbanna Shetty, joint executive of Gurukula institutions Subhash Chandra Shetty and Anupama S Shetty were present.
K C Rajesh of Gurukula educational institutions administrative committee member did the introduction. Santhosh Kumar Shetty, school head master welcomed the gathering. Gurukula public school coordinator Vishala Shetty compered the event. Co-teacher Ashritha rendered vote of thanks.
