Deputy commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda has said that the district jail located in the city will be shifted to a 59-acre government land in Cheloor village of Bantwal taluk.

The shift is as per the directions of chief minister Yeddyurappa. Initially the demand was for 15 acres, then for 50 acres. The new jail building constructed in the city at the cost of Rs 2.6 crore will be utilized for other purposes, he informed reporters on Thursday June 2.

Out of the Rs 100 crore released in the second phase of the most-awaited Mangala Corniche ring-road project, Rs 2 crore has been allotted for inspection work. Mangalore City Development Authority will call tenders for inspection within a week, he added.

Don't tell me Yeddy. The present place was so beautiful. One felt as if one was living in a boys hostel with some bullies around bang in the center of the city. Tomorrow, don't tell me you are going to shift the court which is on a hill. Everyone just enjoys watching college going students there every morning.
