Bengaluru, Feb 22: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai underscored the need of technology and an attitude of service for reaching out the benefits of government facilities to the people.

Inaugurating the Grama One programme anniversary at Vikasa Soudha in Bengaluru on Wednesday, he said all levels of administration must work in unison with a commitment to deliver the services.

He said the Grama One offers a wide range of services to the people based on their requirements and said the service should always remain a service.
People have lost faith in the old system of delivery of services and it was necessary to use technological advances to ensure that the benefits of various services and facilities offered by the government reach the people at their doorsteps without the involvement of middlemen, he said.

Bommai said the Grama One facility is available in all grama panchayats in the State and pointed out that inordinate delays in delivery of services will be make the system meaningless and as ineffective as the old Tahasildar officers, which involved people running around.

The chief minister described the Grama One programme as very revolutionary and asserted that it was an essential part of the State Administration. The staff handling the Grama One initiative must give priority to attending to the needs of the poor and uneducated people and respond to the problems efficiently and very quickly.

He said as many as 6 taluks have been made completely paperless on an experimental basis and based on the success of the scheme, all the Nad offices in the State will be made paperless.

The chief minister promised to take steps to improve the capacity of the servers to ensure speedy disposal of cases.

Chief Minister’s secretary Jayaram Rayapur, Vijayapur Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh, DPAR Secretary Ponnuraj and others were present.

The chief minister later released ragi packets brought out by the State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation.
