Mangalore: Ronald Colaco Meets Kalladka Bhat, Stresses Need for Communal Harmony

By Rons Bantwal
Daijiworld Media Network—Bantwal (PS/CN)

Bantwal, Jul 2: NRI entrepreneur Ronald Colaco, founder and chairman, International Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations, met with South India's powerful RSS leader Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat on Friday July 1.

The aim of the meeting is to strengthen the relation between two communities and bring communal harmony to the society.

Colaco honored Dr Bhat by handing over a flower bouquet at his office ‘Rajendra Soudha’ located on the Shree Rama High School compound at Hanuman Nagara of Kalladka in Bantwal taluk.

Various issues related to both communities were discussed during the meeting.

Dr Bhat admitted that the contribution of Christians to this nation which has a rich history, culture and tradition is immense. “Likewise, service of Christians in the development of the nation is also considerable. Contribution by Christians in the service sector is admirable. But the selfish mentalities of some groups within the community and their unorthodox activities have triggered problems for the whole community. This is unfortunate and everyone concerned has understood this issue. Moreover, in India, nationality should get the priority and not religion or caste. Every individual should strive for a peaceful life. But some vested interests induce communal disturbances which is not acceptable. In the future, there is need to curb all anti-national forces and to lead a serene life free from all communal disturbances. There is a need for collective effort in achieving such constructive work. These kind of meetings boost mutual understanding and prevent wrong perceptions,” said Dr Bhat.

Bhat praised Colaco for his contrintion to the Hindu temples and mosques in the form of donations. He also congratulated Colaco for initiating and pressurizing the government to get a Rs 50 crore grant for the Christian Development Board, which he said was long due for the community.

This is the first time in the history of Karnataka that an amount has been budgeted for the community and the Board has been approved.

Colaco clarified that the opinion that Christians are only engaged in conversion activities is wrong. “If certain sects unlawfully engage in such activities, the whole of community is blamed, which is not right,” he said.

“Through their religious vehemence, the Christian community has tried hard to educate crores of people thereby improving the standards of living of people in India. The community has the exceptional privilege of improving healthy society in the nation,” he opined.

“Christians are credited with instilling the real culture of India by living life here with communal harmony all the way with the wisdom of religion. If the allegations of conversion were true, then Christians would have been a majority in the nation. But now also Christianity is a minority community in India. Attack on Christians and their institutions since two decades are politically motivated. The opinion that Christians are the reason for rooting of foreign culture is also baseless. There is need for collective work in order to avoid any possible clashes among religions,” added Colaco.

Felix A D’Souza Taccode, Arun Mendis, and Rons Bantwal were present during the meeting. On the occasion, BJP district vice-president K P Adhikari, district secretary Shreekar Prabhu, and U Rajesh Naik Oddur were also present.

What we want now is peaceful living in our native place as we lived during our childhood. All lived happily. Mr. Colaco is trying his best to bring back those good old days for our children & for the future generation. We have to keep POLYTRICKS (POLYTICS) away from Religion. We all have to give our support for this, so that, we all can have a peaceful living.

Adv. Harry D’ Souza, I find some biasness/sickness there! No substance of logic ! Can a head of the family handover his house responsibilities to his neighbors? It hurts, is it not? Everyone has to play their own roles in the society i.e, church leaders for religion, head of family on family matters, judge for justice, political leaders on politics and on etc., Further, surely you do not know the meaning of ‘communal’ lest you would not have called the church leaders as ‘communal’ ! History is important. Please read the church history. Perhaps there could be some isolated cases but those cases does not rule the world to generalize it here. Church leaders usually initiate dialogue between the factions to live in peace and harmony side by side. Mr. Colaso is a dynamic leader among the laity. He has perfect song to sing, nobody can stop him either. Let all efforts build communal harmony.

MR. ROSHAN D'SOUZA: I do agree with you. When JESUS ed his disciples, none of them were
intelligent in the world standard (Luke was a Doctor). The greatest king of Israel who ruled for 40 years,
KING DAVID was a shephered boy.  Always in the election God makes as HIS disciples, it was not the intelligent people, but the very humble and obedient people.

God's ion is totally differnt than the worldly ions. Tnanks for brining an interesting topic.

" FOR YOU SEE YOUR CALLING, BRETHREN, THAT NOT MANY WISE ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, NOT MANY MIGHTY, NOT MANY NOBLE, ARE CALLED.  BUT GOD HAS CHOSEN THE FOOLISH OF THE WORLD TO PUT TO SHAME THE WISE (INTELLIGENT PEOPLE), AND GOD
HAS CHOSEN THE WEAK THINGS OF THE WORLD TO PUT TO SHAME THE THINGS
    WHICH ARE MIGHTY"

Communal harmony is need of the hour. But it is not only between Hindus and Christians only. We need it amongst every citizen of India particular and all human race world over in general.
    What is the intention of your statement?{ Christianity has been in India over 2000 years but now the Christian population is only about 3%. Why by preaching everyone will not be converted. Muslims may have been in India about 1200 years but their population is over 10%, why and how.}
You know preaching of ISLAM started by Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) 1445 years ago. He never thought any new religion he was conforming and concluding the religion of prophets ADAM to jESUs (peace be upon them all). Islam (Submission to will of God) is not a new religion. For conformation please read the Last testament Quran. It is natural the truth stands stronger and groves. Hope you are reading the religious population growth too. It is not only in India all around the world specially the Christian west Islam is the fastest grooving religion. (Please don’t argue it is by the point of sword).
Mr.colaco's dialogue is right way to achieve peace. It is a laudable and it must take place among all community leaders too. May the Almighty bless all.

This is a very good initiative in the right direction and is long overdue. This is the need of the hour and I appreciate the efforts of both the community leaders for this great cause. Actually people of all religions are usually good, tolerant and are accommodating one another but politicians sow the seeds of communal unrest for their own selfish ends. I wish all of us make an effort to ignore the ugly and selfish politicians and bring about communal harmony in our society in the best interest of all concerned.

Going to the roots for the root problems could be very much imperative or crucial. We areal roots of the same tree, but grafted some centuries back yet binding with the main tree. Realizing is done here by both communities with broad smiles all along wishing not to fade away in the near future. I believe maturity and sincerity of brotherly relationship should prevail over the time of voting.

Well Done Mr. Colaco & Mr. Bhat for your open talk. Majority of our problem is due to communication gap between the different groups and community. When we were young we children from different religions played together and lived together there by we maintained communication and therefore our religion was never an issue for us. Current lack of trust in our society is due to the communication gap. I hope Mr. Colaco & Mr. Bhat's made a good beginnig and wish this will continue. Thank you Mr. Bhat & Cloaco for your effort.

It is very touching to hear from
MR. BHAT and some other Hindu
leaders all across India about the
    contributions given by the minority
    Christian community in education
and health service. A good number
of these leaders have studied in
    Christian schools and colleges.
    The recent statements from these
    educated leaders are a positive
    sign for a better relationship
    in between different religions.

    Among all the religious followers,
some of them are very deeply
    committed in their religions and
    the teachings of their religious
founder. Only one thing JESUS has
told his disciples before HIS ascension it was commanding the disciples to go unto
all the world and preach the
gospel. So even today, the highly dedicated
    followers of JESUS CHRIST share
that good news of the gospel. It
must be preached in love. And there
should have no compulsion in any
manner to force anybody to follow
JESUS CHRIST, but it is a matter
of "total and self-made willingness" from the listener.

I specially thank God for those
    broad-hearted peace-makers like
    MR. RONALD COLACO. Indeed, he
    is fulfilling and walking through
the path of the beatitude preached
    by JESUS CHRIST. "Blessed are
the peacemakers, for they shall be
called sons of GOD". Mathew 5:9.
The need of this hour is to have
peace in our hearts and peace
in between the neighbours. Let us
    all work together for that.

    Dear Mr. Bhat:

I am truly impressed by your statements saying education and culture were brought by Christians. About conversion it is a story created by some groups and popularly saying Christians do conversion by force. That is absolutely not true. I have been a Christian priest for 46 years and have preached around the world in over 30 nations. I was never attacked by any miscreants even in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. I do appreciate the Hindus. Christians have a duty to serve our Lord Jesus Christ by preaching the gospel all over the world and conversion is left to the individual people. Even in India every Indian from any religion has the constitutional rights, that gives every citizen of India to preach. Christianity has been in India over 2000 years but now the Christian population is only about 3%. Why by preaching everyone will not be converted. Muslims may have been in India about 1200 years but their population is over 10%, why and how. Christianity is a mild religion and never hurt people's mind. Soft in every respect with good hospitality. However Mr. Bhat I do appreciate you for your generous heart and let us live in peace as brothers and sisters and maintain peace and harmony. May the Lord God Almighty bless you with sound health and long life to live as an Indian.

    Pastor E. W. Frank
