Bellary: Reddy, Sriramulu, Make an Appearance in Court, At Last

Bellary, Jul 5: Ministers, B Janardhan Reddy and B Sriramulu, who had failed to appear in the court in spite of issuance of 28 warrants over the past four years, came to the court on Monday July 4. The second junior magistrate first class court had issued 28 non-bailable warrants against them in connection with their alleged involvement with holding a protest in front of Kaul Bazar police station here, and attacking the house of municipal councillor, Ismail.

The ministers face the charge of staging a protest in front of the above police station and attacking the house of Ismail relating to the murder of a local businessman named Mujeeb. 32 people named in the case including Somashekhar Reddy, T H Suresh Babu, MP, Sannafakirappa, MLA, Ramachandra Durga have not so far appeared in person at the court relating to the case.

In addition to Janardhan Reddy and Sriramulu, MLA, Sanna Fakirappa, chairman of the central committee overseeing the functioning of Beggars Rehabilitation Centres in the state, K A Ramalingappa, BJP leader, Mahipal, and Obalapuram Mining Company executive director, Srinivas Reddy, came to the court on Monday and answered questions.

Janardhan Reddy said that he had been framed in a false case hoisted by the police, under the instructions of the the then Congress-JDS regime in the state. He said that the court had turned down an application moved by the assistant public prosecutor in tune with the decision of the state government, to drop this case. He said he has highest respect for courts, and that he had not appeared in the court in the past, as he was not given proper information by the advocates and policemen. Reddy also said that he decided to come to the court after reading press reports which accused of him of evading court warrants.
