Mangalore, Jul 6: “The atmosphere in school should be pleasant and everything should be systematically arranged to make the students brilliant and pro-learning. Keeping this in mind, all the government schools in DK district will be provided good furniture, and play grounds among other facilities. This will be fulfilled in two year’s time,” said district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar.

He was speaking after inaugurating a programme titled ‘Rights of Children’ at the Government Higher Primary School, Muchur, Mangalore taluk, as part of ‘Shalegagi Naavu Neevu’ a dream project of Karnataka government on Tuesday July 5.
 
The dropout rate of children in the school is zero due to a major campaign conducted by the authorities last year. Currently 3.60 lac children are being educated in the district. In two years, 33 new government schools have been started. An amount of Rs 19 crore was spent on construction of 533 class rooms. Likewise, 28 high schools were opened in the past three years and for that more than Rs 12 crore was spent on basic development activities.
 
Palemar called upon the parents to make their children join government schools instead of admitting them in private schools where high fees and donation are charged.
 
He also added that people in the region can turn up to see the government schools in their region and can extend possible help instead of waiting for the government to do so every time.
 
Palemar said that in order to create awareness about preserving nature among students, 2080 eco clubs in primary schools and 1800 eco clubs in high schools will be started.
 
Later, as part of motivating government school students, ‘environment awards’ will be given to schools by the environment department.
